My name is Arturo D. Reyes. I am a lawyer and the head of REYES FENIG ASOCIADOS, S.C., a law firm in Mexico City.
I got my law degree (J.D.) at the Escuela Libre de Derecho (1990-1995), in Mexico City, and was admitted to practice in 1997.
I attended graduate specialization studies at the Universidad Panamericana (Mexico City) in Industrial and Intellectual Property Law (1998) and Amparo Law (2000, with honors). I also hold a master degree in History of Mexico from Centro de Cultura Casa Lamm (Mexico City).
Since 1997, my professional practice has been focused in Intellectual Property law. Although I am a well-known trademark and patent litigator, I am also very active in trademark and patent filing and prosecution, negotiating and drafting contracts concerning intellectual property rights, and in advising clients about how to identify and protect their intangible assets.
I started my own practice at Reyes Fenig Asociados S.C. in 2008, after being an associate and junior partner of one of Mexico City’s largest general practice firms for more than ten years.
Reyes Fenig Asociados S.C. is a member of the International Trademark Association, and I am active member of the Mexican Bar, the Mexican chapter of AIPPI and LES Mexico.
I have authored or co-authored many articles concerning intellectual property. Some of my articles have been published in World Intellectual Property Report, World Licensing Law Report, Managing Intellectual Property, ITMA Review, “El Foro” and Estudios en materia de propiedad industrial e intelectual (2015, coord. José Manuel Magaña). In 2003, Porrúa, the largest publisher of legal works in Mexico, published “La protección de la marca registrada mediante acciones civiles” or “The protection of the registered trademark through civil actions”.
I have been publishing articles related to Intellectual Property in my blog since 2008.
