(<a title=\"Nic Mexico website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nic.mx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NIC-MEXICO<\/a>), an entity related to the <em>Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey<\/em>, and in charge of managing domain names with country code domain (ccTLD) mx, informed that domain names directly under Top Level Domain (TLD) mx will be available again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin:0;\"><span style=\"font-size:13pt;font-family:Tahoma;\" lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin:0;\"><span style=\"font-size:13pt;font-family:Tahoma;\" lang=\"EN-US\">Between 1989 and 1996, the registration of domain names using TLDs with mx only, such as anahuac.mx, were restricted to universities and certain very specific entities. In 1996, NIC MEXICO made the edu.mx TLD available, and closed the registration for new domains under the TLD mx directly, thus the only available TLDs with cc mx were com.mx, gob.mx, net.mx, org.mx and edu.mx.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin:0;\"><span style=\"font-size:13pt;font-family:Tahoma;\" lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin:0;\"><span style=\"font-size:13pt;font-family:Tahoma;\" lang=\"EN-US\">On January 28, 2009, NIC-Mexico informed that it will allow the registration of domains under the TLD mx directly, starting this year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin:0;\"><span style=\"font-size:13pt;font-family:Tahoma;\" lang=\"EN-US\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin:0;\"><span style=\"font-size:13pt;font-family:Tahoma;\" lang=\"EN-US\">The mechanism and rules to register domain names under TLD mx directly\u00a0are not clear yet, although it seems that there will be different stages, and will start on May 2009.
